Liberation Front of French Colonies condemns France's colonial violence
The International Liberation Front of French Colonies has issued a statement, Paralel.Az reports.
The statement notes that killing of two young Kanaks from St. Louis Towns is a tragic illustration of the Kanaki situation. The French state, betraying the promises in the treaties of Nouméa and Matignon, insists on maintaining the colonial regime under the pretext of maintaining order:
“France prefers to solve the problems of many indigenous peoples under the colonial rule by violent means.
Today, the target here is a people, who were stubbornly denied the right to self-determination and not decolonized.
The international community cannot remain silent against this systemic and institutionalized violence. It is the duty of the international community to put pressure on France, demand it to respect international legal standards and demand an immediate end to the repressions committed by its repressive forces.
The picture in Martinique is not heartwarming. The rights of Martinique people to economic and social justice are brutally suppressed. This state repression aimed at suppressing the demands of the people is part of the colonial logic. We strongly condemn it.
The International Liberation Front expresses its unwavering support to all victims of colonialism in Kanaki, Martinique and around the world. Our struggle is a struggle for justice, freedom, liberation and the dignity of our people. We will remain committed to our struggle until colonialism is definitively abolished and our peoples finally flourish in freedom, peace and sovereignty,” – was noted.
17 political movements in the territories under French colonial rule have joined the statement.
It should be recalled that in July of this year, leaders of political parties and movements fighting for independence in French colonies held their First Congress in Baku and created the Liberation Front of French Colonies.
