Azerbaijan celebrates Day of Khankandi, Khojaly, Khojavand, and Aghdara

 

September 20 is designated as Day of Khankendi, Khojaly, Khojavand, and Aghdara, Paralel.Az reports.

According to an Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 18, 2024, September 20 will be marked as the Day of Khankandi, Khojaly, Khojavand, and Aghdara.

On September 19, 2023, the local anti-terror measures were initiated in the region to ensure the implementation of the trilateral statement’s provisions, prevent large-scale provocations in the Garabagh economic region, disarm and remove Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan’s territories, neutralize their military infrastructure, ensure the safety of the civilians returning to the liberated territories, as well as the civilian workers and military personnel involved in the reconstruction and rehabilitation works, and restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On September 19, 2023, around 13:00, the commencement and successful completion of anti-terror measures resulted in Azerbaijan restoring its sovereignty.

On September 28, 2023, the so-called entity in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan announced its dissolution, thereby ending the existence of the "Republic of Nagorno-Garabagh."

On October 15, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev hoisted the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the cities of Aghdara, Khojavand, and Khojaly, in the Asgaran settlement of Khojaly, in the area of the Sarsang Reservoir, and in the city of Khankandi.
