The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) condemns the new program presented by the Dutch government to the country's Parliament, says the information released by the BIG, Paralel.Az reports.

It was noted that the Dutch Government has presented a new program to the country’s Parliament. The program has been approved by the Council of Ministers and now needs to be discussed and approved in Parliament: "For centuries, although the Netherlands was a colonial power, our minimal expectations that it would respect the freedom of the peoples it oppressed and remove the obstacles it imposed for the independent existence of territories located tens of thousands of kilometers away were not met.

Although the newly formed Dutch government, consisting of the Freedom Party, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, the New Social Contract, and the Farmers-Citizens Movement, claims to fight for ‘freedom’ in their charters, they continue to suppress the freedoms of the peoples of the six Caribbean states—Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.

The new program presented by the government claims that it will implement legislation and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of the islands based on principles of good governance and cooperation in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. For this purpose, a General Administrative Law will be prepared, which will include the application of the ‘comply and explain’ principle.

Thus, the new right-wing nationalist Council of Ministers of the Netherlands is preparing to continue the colonial policies of its predecessor. While the government claims that some of these islands have autonomous status, in reality, these territories are entirely dependent on the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In fact, these islands have even been removed from the UN’s list of territories to be decolonized.

To convey the real situation in the Dutch colonies to the global public, an international conference titled "Bonaire’s Pathway from Baku through UN General Assembly to Self-Determination,” was held in Baku on August 22 of this year.

The peoples fighting for their freedoms, especially the island of Bonaire, plan to present a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly in October of this year for the re-inclusion of Bonaire in the UN’s list of territories to be decolonized.

The Baku Initiative Group demands that the Dutch government respect the freedom of peoples and refrain from creating obstacles to their struggle for independence within international organizations."
