No significant increases in coronavirus infections observed in Azerbaijan, Health Ministry says

"As it is known, the new coronavirus infection manifests periodically with fluctuations," Ministry of Health's expert-specialist and infectious disease doctor Tayyar Eyvazov said, Paralel.Az reports.

He noted that this can currently be observed both in Azerbaijan's neighboring countries and in some parts of the U.S. and Europe

"The sub-variants of the Omicron strain spreading in these countries generally cause mild forms of illness despite their rapid transmissibility. As for Azerbaijan, it can be said that although there are occasional minor fluctuations, no significant increases requiring attention have been observed. The epidemiological situation is considered satisfactory and is controllabe."

"The preventive measures against this infection are the same as those applied during other airborne infections (acute respiratory viral infections, flu). It is especially recommended that people in risk groups (pregnant women, those with immunodeficiencies, severe chronic illnesses, and the elderly) be more cautious."
