Forest fires in Türkiye spreads to residential areas

Forest fires in Türkiye's Izmir province have spread to residential areas due to strong winds, Paralel.Az reports.

Residents of many houses were evacuated.

The fire that started yesterday evening in the Karsiyaka district of the province has spread to a large area. Five planes, 15 helicopters and a lot of equipment have been sent to the region. The firefighting continued until the morning. For this reason, the aircraft were unable to combat the fire for some time. Residents of the area were evacuated. Traffic on the roads leading to the fire site was stopped.

Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli went to the scene. Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban reported that there were no casualties among residents, but some residential buildings had burned down.
