Iran' Former Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi: "Armenia was a country that had occupied one of its neighbor countries"
Baseless claims have been released on some media publications on speech of Iran's former Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi at a presentation ceremony of a book if another former Iranian Ambassador to our country Mohsun Pakayin dedicated to Garabagh conflict, Paralel.Az reports.
It is claims that Seyyed Abbas Mousavi has allegedly said in his speech that Azerbaijan was a country that had occupied one of neighbor countries.
However it becomes clear while getting acknowledged with an original text of former ambassador's speech that a serious mistake has been made. It is possible that Seyyid Abbas Musavi's words were either deliberately distorted and conveyed to the Azerbaijani society, or a translation error was made.
In fact, Seyid Abbas Mousavi said in his speech that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always acted on the basis of its principles, the principles announced by the Supreme Leader in foreign policy: "The policy of opposing separatism and violence is one of the principles that Iran believes in."
The former ambassador continued: "Armenia was a country that occupied one of the neighboring countries. By mediating, we initially brought the parties closer to signing a peace agreement on the resolution of their conflict, but the interests of the western countries did not allow it.
