Ambassador: Pakistan is committed to peaceful settlement of Kashmir conflict
An event was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the cancellation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by India, Paralel.Az reports.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif's address to the people in connection with this day was played.
The head of the government stated that the aggressive methods implemented by India for years led to the violation of human rights in the region and the non-implementation of UN resolutions on this issue.
Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin voiced the address of the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari to the people of Azerbaijan.
The Pakistani President pointed out that the problem of Jammu and Kashmir has been going on for many years and despite the efforts of the international community, it has not yet been resolved: "India has been occupying Jammu and Kashmir for many years and has committed numerous actions that have violated the right of the local people to live safely in their homeland and other rights and freedoms. In violation of international law, the Indian army has not yet been withdrawn from the region. The humanitarian crisis caused by the illegal acts committed by India has been officially recognized by both the international community and the UN. I would like to thank the government of Azerbaijan for using today's opportunity to support the delivery of our righteous cause to the world."
The ambassador stressed that his country is committed to solving the problem based on the principles of peace and international justice.
"Pakistan is committed to settling this conflict on the basis of the principles of peace and stability in South Asia. We want to assure the international community that you are committed to this intention."
Later, a video showing the essence of the Jammu and Kashmir problem and the steps taken by India that resulted in the violation of human rights in the region was shown.
At the event, it was noted that the Indian government decided to cancel the special autonomy status of the region in 2019.
After that, the area faced a large-scale blockade. It was also emphasized that the events did not affect the lives of every Pakistani.
In this regard, Article 35A of the Constitution of India has been suspended.
It was noted at the event that the fundamental rights and freedoms of more than 1 million Pakistanis were violated as a result of the conflict in the region.
