Armenia's state debt exceeds 12 billion dollars

"Those who say that our country, which has a state debt of 12 billion dollars and where 50% of the population lives in difficult conditions, should become a member of the European Union do not understand the real situation," Chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of Armenia Nairi Sarkisyan stated, Paralel.Az reports citing News.am.

He noted that currently, 13% of budget expenditures are directed towards debt repayment instead of solving economic and social problems. According to N. Sarkisyan, if this trend continues, Armenia will soon have to put state property up for sale.
