Pilot killed in horror crash after jet plunges into runway in Poland - MOMENT OF CRASH

 

A pilot has been killed in Poland after his military jet spun out of control and plummeted to the ground before being engulfed in a ball of flame, Paralel.Az reports citing TVP World.

Major Robert Jeł died instantly after his M-346 Bielik training aircraft nose dived into the runway at Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport.

Video footage shows the jet seemingly out of control as it hurtles towards the ground.

Other footage taken from an apartment block shows the plane plunging from the sky before disappearing behind a row of trees.

Seconds later a fireball can be seen rising above the treetops.

Lieutenant Colonel Marek Pawlak from the General Command of the Armed Forces said that a single pilot from the 41st Aviation Training base had been killed in the incident.

He added that an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the accident.The M-346 Master, named Bielik in the Polish military, is a two-person twin-engine aircraft designed for advanced flight training and can reach speeds of up to 1,059 km/h.

The pilot, who had been performing acrobatics at a low altitude, had been preparing for an airshow at the weekend as part of celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Navy Aviation Brigade.
