Azerbaijani FM discusses Gaza with his Israeli counterpart

 

On June 28, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Israel Katz has a telephone conversation, Azerbaijani MFA told Paralel.Az.

According to the information, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects of cooperation between the two states, international and regional issues, and the situation around Gaza.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza in a short period of time, not targeting the civilian population on both sides, and peaceful resolving of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

During the phone conversation, the necessary works and plans to be carried out within the framework of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) covering the years 2024-2026 were reviewed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the other side about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, issues of combating the mine threat, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.

It was emphasized that within the framework of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), an additional opportunity for cooperation between the two states has arisen.

During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
