Azerbaijani FM discussed situation in the region with the Speaker of Georgian Parliament

 

Within the framework of his visit to Georgia, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Speaker of the Parliament of this country, Shalva Papuashvili, MFA told Paralel.Az.

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the current situation in the region were discussed.

It was highlighted that mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, which has the character of strategic partnership in directions such as trade, investments, energy, transport and communications, and humanitarian, etc., gives rise to satisfaction. The importance of the work on the Middle Corridor and joint cooperation was noted.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing information about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan this year, highlighted that new opportunities have emerged within the framework of COP29 for further expanding cooperation.

The other party was also informed about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, extensive reconstruction and development efforts in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the threat of mines, as well as information on the peace and normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also wrote his heartfelt words in the book of honored guests of the Parliament.
