ICRC representative: I am impressed by work implemented liberated territories

"The problem of landmine contamination of occupied Azerbaijani territories prevents IDPs from returning to their homes,” Erik Tollefsen, Head of Weapon Contamination Unit of the Protection and Basic Services Department of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), told journalists, Paralel.Az reports.

"The other day, I visited the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. I want to note that I was impressed by the work implemented by both the Azerbaijani government and the UN Development Programme in the liberated territories. We have gathered today in Baku, Azerbaijan to discuss solutions to the problem of landmines. The problem of contamination of formerly occupied territories with mines and other dangerous explosives hinders both development and the timely return of internally displaced persons to their homes. Enough opinions were voiced about this at today's event as well," he underlined.
