Biden announces $400 million defense aid package for Ukraine-UPDATED

 

U.S. President Joe Biden on May 10 authorized a $400 million defense aid package for Ukraine, according to a statement on the White House's website, Paralel.Az reports citing Kyiv Independent.

"I hereby delegate to the Secretary of State... to direct the drawdown of up to $400 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense... to provide assistance to Ukraine," the statement read.

The United States will announce a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine on Friday, according to two U.S. officials and a notification sent to Congress obtained by POLITICO, Paralel.Az reports.

The package, which will involve transferring weapons already in U.S. stocks, includes new Patriot missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, Bradley fighting vehicles, MRAPs, Javelin anti-armor systems and other munitions.
