Armenia doesn't discuss issue of applying for EU membership at this stage - Speaker
Armenia is not discussing the issue of applying to join the European Union at the current stage, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan told journalists, Paralel.Az reports.
According to Simonyan, the issue of Armenia's membership in the EU is not the topic of discussion currently: "I don't think that something like this could happen. Armenia has not applied yet and is waiting to become a member or a candidate in the EU. We have a lot of work to do to ensure that we don't have to wait years for membership in the EU, such as Georgia or Türkiye."
The Speaker added that many standards need to be changed in the country, which is why it is questionable how long the process will take if it is applied for EU membership.
Recall that a while ago Alen Simonyan declared that Armenia is ready to deepen its relations with the EU and become a candidate for membership.
