Azerbaijan gets highest anti-terror rating in world - Global Terrorism Index

 

Global Terrorism Index 2024 (GTI) Report presented the next ordinal ranking of countries on the impact of terrorism, Paralel.Az reports.

According to the GTI, among the countries with the highest terrorist activity and terrorist threat in its territory, the first ranks - 1. Burkina Faso (8,571), 2.Israel (8,143), 3.Mali (7,998), 4. Pakistan (7,916), 5.Syria (7,89), 6. Afghanistan (7,825) was included in the list.

Iran (4.464) ranked 26th, Türkiye (4.168) 29th, United States (4.141) 30th, Russia (3.016) 35th, France (2.647) 38th, Norway (1.747) 53rd, Armenia (0.423) 76th, United Arab Emirates (0.233) 79th, Lithuania (0.059) 87th in the rankings.

The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) is a comprehensive study analyzing the impact of terrorism on 163 countries covering 99.7 percent of the world’s population.

The GTI report is produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) using data from Terrorism Tracker and other sources. The GTI produces a composite score to provide an ordinal ranking of countries on the impact of terrorism. The GTI scores each country on a scale from 0 to 10; where 0 represents no impact from terrorism and 10 represents the highest measurable impact of terrorism.

The Republic of Azerbaijan was ranked 89th with an index of 0, together with countries such as Denmark, Finland, and Qatar in the ranking on the threat of terrorism, and got the highest rating as one of the safest countries in the world in terms of terrorism.

Note that the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) has published its long-awaited assessment report on Azerbaijan which highlighted the work done in Azerbaijan over the past five years according to several criteria, the successes achieved, as well as various recommendations on future tasks in these areas, the Report noted that Azerbaijan had achieved a substantial level of effectiveness for countering terrorist financing and that the authorities have demonstrated their ability to successfully investigate TF offenses (seven convictions were secured during the reference period).

As shown in the international reports, Azerbaijan has risen to the highest internal security rating in the world as a result of the rapid development, stability, and peace established as a result of an exceptionally successful state policy, as well as the effective work done by the security agencies in the field of combating terrorism in recent years, despite how sensitive and complex the geopolitical space is.

As the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Victorious Ilham Aliyev said, "Today, Azerbaijan is an island of security."
