During the reporting year, Azerbaijan's role in international energy security and development of transport corridors has strengthened, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov, who presented the report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2023 at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis, Paralel.Az reports.
The Prime Minister underlined that the number of countries supplied with Azerbaijani gas has reached 8: "In the future, our export geography will increase in the direction of Europe. At the same time, our country has great renewable wind and solar energy potential. As a result of the successful energy policy of President Ilham Aliyev, important work is being done in this direction. The largest solar power plant in the country, as well as in the Caspian region and the CIS, the 230 MW "Garadagh" Station has been put into operation. In 2023, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on the construction of a 400 MW solar power plant in Nakhchivan and the export of electricity to Türkiye. Complex measures are being implemented to increase the transmission capacity of the international transport corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan and to realize the transit potential. In 2023, the volume of cargo transported in transport corridors was 32.8 million tons. Transit cargo accounted for 57% of the cargo transported through the corridors.
"Transit cargo transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan has increased by 12.5 percent," he emphasized.
