United States starts supplying equipment for port, aid delivery to Gaza
The United States has initiated transportation of equipment for temporary port opening and humanitarian aid supply to the Gaza Strip, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, Paralel.Az reports.
"On March 9, 2024, U.S. Army Vessel (USAV) General Frank S. Besson <…> departed Joint Base Langley-Eustis en route to the Eastern Mediterranean," CENTCOM said in a statement posted on the X social media, "Besson, a logistics support vessel, is carrying the first equipment to establish a temporary pier to deliver vital humanitarian supplies," the Command added.
On March 7, US President Joe Biden said Washington is creating a temporary port in Gaza for humanitarian aid supplies by sea.
