"The Western media is completely biased against Muslims," Executive Director of the Pakistan Policy Research Center Ahsan Hamid said as he delivered a speech during the panel discussion on "Similarities and differences in the treatment of Muslims in Western Europe, basic human rights of the Muslim community" whithin the framework of the Baku-hosted international scientific conference on “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024”, Paralel.Az reports.

He noted that the right-wing populist politicians associate socio-economic problems in the country with Muslims and Islam, they use Islamophobic narratives: "These politicians in the West present Islam as an ideological enemy. They portray Islam as a threat to the security of Europe. The Western media is completely biased against Muslims and the rightists spread their Islamophobic messages through these media platforms."

He stated that the anti-Muslim rhetoric in Europe gets stronger during the elections.

The researcher noted that multilateral steps should be taken to effectively combat Islamophobia.
