US NORAD intercepts air balloon over Utah

 

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted a balloon over the state of Utah, the Fox News television channel reports, citing the Command, Paralel.Az reports.

"In closed cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected a small balloon at an altitude varying between 43,000-45,000 ft. [13,100-13,700 m - TASS]. The balloon was intercepted by NORAD fighters over Utah, who determined it was not maneuverable and did not pose a threat to national security," the statement reads.

NORAD will continue tracking and monitoring the object, the TV channel said.
