Ombudsman comments regarding US report on Azerbaijan

 

Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva commented on on U.S. publishing a special report about religious freedom in Azerbaijan, the Ombudsman Office told Paralel.Az.

Noted that people from different religions have historically lived in peaceful and friendly conditions in Azerbaijan. In recent times, multiculturalism and tolerance have commenced to be implemented as a state policy, and a number of measures promoting interreligious dialogue have been implemented in Azerbaijan.

"The Azerbaijani Ombudsman institution always pays attention to the provision of equal opportunities to everyone, regardless of their religion, language, race and other characteristics. Simultaneously, we build our activities on the basis of the principle of "leaving no one behind", which is reflected in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and on the concept of uniting everyone's efforts for the sake of further strengthening the existing stability, multicultural and tolerant environment in the country, friendly and fraternal relations between local peoples," she emphasized.
