Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva met with Huseyn Akhundov and Aghshin Babirov, soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army who were captured and arrested by Armenia in April 2023 in the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic along the border with Armenia, and who were recently released from captivity, the Office of the Ombudsman told Paralel.Az.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman congratulated H.Akhundov and A.Babirov on their release from Armenian captivity.

Huseyn Akhundov and Aghshin Babirov stressed the inhumane treatment they were subjected to during their detention in Armenia.

The ombudsman, in turn, stated that the issues mentioned by those military personnel will be raised before relevant international organizations, and necessary steps will be taken to ensure their rights.
