Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia held political consultations

 

The political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia, Russian MFA said, Paralel.Az reports.

On December 21-22. the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko held consultations in Baku on regional and European security matters with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov.

It was noted that the Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev also received Grushko.

Besides, Russian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister held meeting with the Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on special assignments Elchin Amirbayov and the Chairman of the The Committee on Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Samad Seyidov.

A wide range of opinions were exchanged on the current situation in the field of security of the South Caucasus and Europe, including mutual activity in the OSCE, the situation in the Council of Europe, the relations of two countries (Azerbaijan and Russia – ed.) with the European Union and with NATO. Actual bilateral matters and international agenda were also touched upon.

The key role and special responsibility of regional countries in maintaining stability and security in the South Caucasus was stressed.

Both parties agreed on being committed to continue the close dialogue on regional and European security issues.
