Foreign Ministers of Caspian littoral countries adopt joint statement

 

The Foreign Ministers of the five Caspian littoral states (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan) expressed their support for the intensification of negotiations on the establishment of an agreement on confidence-building measures in the field of military activities in the Caspian Sea, says the joint statement on the results of the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the "Caspian Five" published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paralel.Az's Moscow correspondent reports.

The Ministers note the need to intensify the negotiation process in order to finalize the five-party draft agreements: on agreed confidence-building measures in the field of military activities in the Caspian Sea," the statement notes.

In the statement, the sides also emphasize the importance of continuing work on the draft protocol to the Tehran Convention on Monitoring, Assessment and Exchange of Information on the State of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.
