Baku strongly believe that there is a historical opportunity for Azerbaijan and Armenia to live side by side in peaceful conditions - FM

Despite the destruction and unhealed wounds, it was Azerbaijan that initiated the process of normalization of interstate relations with Armenia, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the 30th OSCE Ministerial Council, Paralel.Az reports.

The head of MFA noted that the continuation of geopolitical intrigues initiated by other actors is unproductive and only serves to delay peace.

"Despite the devastation and unhealed wounds, it was Azerbaijan that initiated the process of normalization of interstate relations with Armenia on the basis of mutual recognition and respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Unfortunately, despite Azerbaijan's unequivocal commitment to peace, the process is experiencing new delays. It took more than two months for Armenia to submit its amendments to the draft peace agreement. At the same time, biased and unilateral actions of certain third parties also seriously affected the process. Despite all these problems, Azerbaijan remains committed to the continuation of direct negotiations for the conclusion of the peace agreement as soon as possible. We openly proposed to Armenia to meet at the border of the common state or in an impartial, neutral third country. We continue to strongly believe that there is a historic opportunity for Azerbaijan and Armenia to establish good neighborly relations and coexist peacefully as two sovereign countries. For this, Armenia should understand that the road to peace is through bilateral dialogue and normal relations with its neighbors. Continuation of geopolitical intrigues started by other actors is unproductive, because it only serves to prolong the conflict and delay peace," said Jeyhun Bayramov.
