France tries to revive its ruined political reputation in South Caucasus – Russian MFA

“France is trying to revive its reputation which is ruined in other parts of the world, in South Caucasus,” said Maria Zakharova, the Spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs during briefing, Paralel.Az reports.

Zakharova said as an answer to a journalist’s “President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared that France is preparing the ground for war in the South Caucasus. Does Moscow see such a risk?” question:

“We are not surprised at all by Baku's harsh assessment of France's actions. I think that they are fed up with the intervention of Paris, which has made unsuccessful attempts to restore its political reputation, in Baku and several other places in the South Caucasus. However, France's reputation in other parts of the world and on other continents is pretty ruined.”

According to her, risks of provocation remain in the South Caucasus: “In this regard, Russia is constantly working towards turning South Caucasus into a zone of stability and prosperity based on the interests of all South Caucasus region states, neighboring countries. With this logic, within the framework of the "3+3", we establish mutual relations regional advisory platform for the South Caucasus, working on the comprehensive normalization of relations between Baku and on the basis of tripartite agreements signed at the highest level,” the official of MFA said.
