Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday issued a general amnesty for crimes committed prior to Nov. 16, 2023.

According to the state news agency SANA, the decree pardoned some crimes and replaced some sentences with lighter ones.

Some serious offenses like homicide, and crimes related to arms smuggling were not included in the amnesty.
