Russian political scientist: “Perhaps the last straw for Sargsyan was Yerevan’s course towards warm relations with Ankara”

Political scientist Andrei Areshev said that the decision to leave the post of President of Armenia was connected with the political and legal structure in the country: “Pashinyan's authorities did not need Sargsyan's opportunities. The contradictions appeared from the very beginning, after Pashinyan came to power, and over the years they became clearer. Sargsyan's decision indicates that the contradictions eventually escalated into a clash between the president and the de facto leader of Armenia, Pashinyan, over the further development of Armenian statehood.
Perhaps the last straw for Sargsyan was Yerevan's course towards warm relations with Ankara. In this situation, Sargsyan believed that he would not go far with the current political leadership of the country.
