Michael Krift, a Canadian citizen, died in a natural disaster in the ski resort of Erciyes in central Turkey. Michael Krift is the head of the coordination group of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Gaziantep.
He got hit by an avalanche while skiing. Although rescuers were called to help, Krift was already dead when they arrived on the scene.
Two more people were hit by an avalanche, but their lives were saved.
