The State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan announced an increase in the number of cases of registration in the Republic of Kazakhstan of vehicles temporarily imported into the country and exempt from customs duties and taxes, respectively.
The committee said that such cars are under customs control because they belong to foreign countries. “According to the requirements of the EAEU Customs Code, cars temporarily imported into the country must be in actual possession and use of the declarant. However, there are frequent cases of state registration of cars temporarily imported for personal use in Kazakhstan, which did not pass customs clearance and did not pay customs duties and taxes, ”said the representative of the State Committee.
Most citizens of Georgia and Azerbaijan leave the country shortly after moving their cars to Kazakhstan for personal use.
“This suggests that such cars were imported into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union for transfer to a citizen of Kazakhstan or registration in Kazakhstan without paying customs duties and taxes. To date, the Committee has identified 156 vehicles registered in Kazakhstan without payment of customs duties and taxes.
In this regard, the Committee declares that the acquisition of vehicles temporarily imported into the country, as well as operation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, is possible only after customs clearance and, accordingly, payment of customs duties and taxes.
