According to the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Review for January-June, food inflation continued to play a key role in shaping headline inflation.
However, the impact of rising prices for non-food products and services on inflation increased over the reporting period. In June, annual food inflation was 5.3 percent. The annual growth in prices for non-food products and services amounted to 4.6 percent and 4 percent, respectively.
Of the 520 goods and services included in the consumer basket, prices increased by 245 or 47% in the range of 0-4% annually. In particular, prices rose by less than 2 percent, while prices increased by 18 percent.
In June, producer prices for agricultural products rose 2 percent over the past 12 months. In June, prices for livestock products rose 2.6 percent year on year, while prices for crop products rose 1.1 percent. At the same time, producer prices for forest products decreased by 5.6 percent, while the price of fish and other fish products increased by 4.2 percent. In June, the producer price index for industrial products increased by 61.3 percent on an annualized basis. The change in prices occurred mainly due to the mining industry (an increase of 76.1 percent). The producer price index for oil and gas products increased by 73.7 percent, for non-oil and gas products - by 9.9 percent. The rise in prices in the mining industry is mainly due to the sharp rise in oil prices on world markets compared to June last year.
The producer price index in the manufacturing industry increased by 19.1 percent annually. The largest price increases were observed in the chemical industry (61 percent), oil products (34 percent) and metallurgy (16 percent). In June 2021, prices for transportation services increased by 8.3 percent annually. The cost of freight transportation increased by 3.9 percent, passenger transportation - by 33.3 percent. At the same time, the cost of postal and courier services increased by 1.9 percent. The cost of communication services has not changed.
