Azerbaijani peacekeepers will return home from Afghanistan
A plane was sent to Afghanistan to evacuate Turkish citizens, Paralel.az reports. Yesterday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu called on Turkish citizens in Afghanistan to apply to the embassy if they want to return to the country, and stressed that all necessary measures have been taken to evacuate citizens.
Today, the foreign ministers of Turkey and Azerbaijan Mevlut Cavusoglu and Jeyhun Bayramov in a telephone conversation discussed the situation of Turkish and Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Afghanistan and their evacuation. Although it is unclear when the peacekeepers will be evacuated from Afghanistan, experts believe that in the coming days, after the withdrawal of civilians and representatives of the embassies from Afghanistan, the peacekeepers will return home.
Note that the Azerbaijani peacekeepers, together with the Turkish peacekeepers, were guarding the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
On Sunday, Taliban militants seized control of the war-torn country, Kabul, and announced they had taken control of the country. Many countries have taken steps to evacuate citizens.
