Experts of the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for this area relate the reasons for the rise in prices of meat in recent years to various factors. However, no one touches on the main factor, claiming that local production pays 80-85 percent of domestic demand.

According to this calculation, the annual demand for meat in the country is 800,000 tons, the demand for water is 4 million tons. How much meat do we produce? According to statistics, there are about 2.7 million bovine and 8.5 million smallpox in Azerbaijan. Annual meat production is 316 thousand tons, milk production is 2 million tons.. As seen, local meat production is up to 40 per cent of local demand and milk production is up to 50 per cent. This means that the two countries are dependent on imports. Each year, about 500,000 tons of meat, 2 million tons of milk and dairy products are imported into the country.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan brings bovine meat mainly from Ukraine, India, Belarus, Brazil, Prague, Moldova, Germany, Bulgaria, USA and Russia. Meat in Azerbaijan is becoming more expensive as there are any problems with the supply of meat in these import countries. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the demand for meat in the country has decreased as restaurants and festive palaces are closed. That's why the firepower has also fallen down, and many of the contacts have been cut off. Since early June, the launch of restaurants and festive palaces increased the demand for meat, local production does not meet the demand, and contact with foreign partners is not immediately possible. Therefore, the wholesale price of meat has risen in price. In the summer months, as the population group is less in demand for meat, this price increase is not so noticeable in the settlements, but in the autumn months it will also be felt as a rise in prices. The impact of inflation in this process is undeniable.
