Former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jennifer Mary Shipley, who is in Baku to participate in the VII Global Forum, commented for Azeri Daily on yesterday's terrorist act in the Al Nour and Lynwood Masjid mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, which killed 49 people.
According to Shipley, the incident will not exacerbate the situation in New Zealand: 'Muslims, like representatives of other religious denominations, are full-fledged citizens of our country. We have a democratic society, and such incidents cannot cast a shadow on our democracy.'
'The authorities of New Zealand will conduct a thorough investigation of what happened. Those responsible for this unprecedented act of cruelty will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Through your website I want to express my condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims. This is a very unpleasant fact for our country living in calm and well-being,' said the former prime minister of New Zealand.
