Within the framework of participation in the unofficial summit of the CIS heads of state, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held discussions with the acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. This was announced in an interview with Azerbaijan State News Agency by the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev.
'During the event, President Ilham Aliyev also had a conversation with Nikol Pashinyan. During the conversation, discussions were held around the issues of continuing active negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and the strengthening of the cease-fire regime,' said Hikmet Hajiyev.
According to him, the leaders of the two countries also discussed the issue of mutual exchange of detainees.
'Underlining the position of Azerbaijan on this issue, President Ilham Aliyev noted that the exchange should be conducted on the principle of 'all for all,' and among others there should be the names of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev,' said Hajiyev.
Hikmet Hajiyev also commented on the direct link between the two countries: 'There is such a link. But it is not at the level of heads of state, foreign ministers or ministers of defence. It is a level lower and is used when necessary.'
