Turkish President convenes security summit in Istanbul

 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday returned to Istanbul from Kazan, Russia, where he attended the BRICS Summit, to hold a security meeting, Paralel.Az reports citing Anews.

The meeting at the Atatürk Airport State Guesthouse was attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, MIT President İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, President of the Defense Industries (SSB) Haluk Görgün, Presidential Foreign Policy and Security Chief Advisor Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik.

At the meeting, the topics of the terrorist attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) facility in Kahramankazan, Ankara, and counter-terrorism efforts were discussed.

It was reported that the meeting lasted for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and a written statement is expected afterward.
