Opening day of Baku Climate Action Week was held - PHOTO - UPDATED
The opening day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) was being held, Paralel.Az reports.
This event, which will continue until October 4, brings together 700 people from around the world, including various experts and policymakers in sustainability, as well as leaders from the private sector and civil society, to explore climate adaptation solutions and accelerate their implementation. As the global community prepares for the COP29 event to be held in Baku this November, Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) will be marked as a significant moment on the climate calendar.
At the official opening ceremony of the event, speeches were delivered by the COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan Nigar Arpadarai, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, other officials and foreign guests.

UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan Nigar Arpadari, COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev, members of the Organizing Committee and foreign guests are participating in the opening day.
With an international perspective and a local context, Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) will bring together key stakeholders such as politics, the private sector, finance, trade and investment, science and academia, arts and culture, civil society and the media.
Baku Climate Action Week will be a key moment to deepen the national conversation and accelerate action on climate change in Azerbaijan, including existing initiatives for sustainable development. BCAW will seek to engage everyone from political and business leaders to local communities and youth. BCAW will serve as an educational and inspiring platform to address Azerbaijan's current challenges related to climate change, explore achievements so far in key sectors such as oil and gas, and create and deepen partnerships regionally and internationally.
