Outcry in Israel as ICC prosecutor seeks warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant
Israeli officials and politicians across the board reacted with anger and outrage on Monday after the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor announced that he was seeking arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over the war in Gaza, along with three Hamas leaders, Paralel.Az reports citing The Times of Israel.
Several right-wing figures decried the decision as antisemitic, and others on the left blamed Netanyahu for the situation.
President Isaac Herzog said the court’s move was “beyond outrageous."
Note that the International Criminal Court prosecutor said Monday that he has requested arrest warrants for the leaders of Hamas and for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.
In a statement, the prosecutor, Karim Khan, said he would seek warrants for Yahya Sinwar, Muhammad Deif and Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas. He also said he was requesting warrants for Netanyahu and for Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant.
