In January 23-25, the first summit of leaders of air navigation bodies of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan) is being held in Baku under the auspices of Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO). The event is taking place jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) LLC, AZAL told Paralel.Az- Economics.

Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) is an international organization that connects air navigation service providers.

Azerbaijan is member of this organization since 2005.

Simon Hocquard the Director General of CANSO, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye Enver Iskurt, Acting President at Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Samir Rzayev, as well as, heads of aviation organizations and air navigation services delivered speech during the event that was held on January 24.

The matter of development and management of air traffic in the region were discussed during the summit. Appropriate decisions were made aimed at increasing the safety of flights and the efficiency of joint activities as a result of the discussions.

Air navigation service providers are key participators of the aviation industry. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of flights, the development of air transport corridors in the region and for organizing transit flow through the countries' airspace. As well as, the providers creates conditions for securing the global air transport chain, increasing efficiency of flights, supporting the concept of sustainable development and reducing environmental impact.

As a part of the summit program, the participants are expected to get themselves familiarized with the activities of the Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Management (AZANS), as well as, new technologies and measures to ensure the safety of air transportation in the region.

Note that, airlines of other countries show huge interest in Azerbaijan’s air space due to high quality service and intersection of important air routes between Europe and Asia. Thus, the number of transit flights over Azerbaijan’s territory continues to increase rapidly, reaching an average of 15,000 per month.
