Azerbaijan to build wind and solar power plants in Alat, Lokbatan, Sabunchu, Mardakan by 2040

 

By 2040, it is proposed to establish one wind and three solar power plants with a total area of 2650 ha and an installed capacity of 1200 MW in Alat, Lokbatan, Sabunchu and Mardakan sub-centers, it is reflected in the Master Plan for the Development of the City of Baku until 2040, Paralel.Az-Economics reports.

Noted that 3313 ha of additional area is considered for the development of renewable energy farms in the future (in the period after the reporting period).

In the Master Plan, establishing a phased "Regeneration Framework" is considered for an additional 676 ha of temporary renewable energy plants on the site of currently contaminated land. "Floating solar power plant on Boyukshor Lake (300 kW)" project, as well as Girmaki Natural Geological Park (202 ha), are included in the regeneration framework. In this park, producing solar and wind energy and designing a carbon-neutral system will be possible.
