The 40th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Northern Cyprus was celebrated in Baku, Paralel.Az reports.

Ufuk Turganer, head of the Representation of Northern Cyprus in Azerbaijan, delivered a speech at the event.

"No country of the Turkic world has come to terms with occupation and slavery. Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus are among such countries," Turganer said.

Samad Seyidov, chairman of the international relations and inter-parliamentary relations committee of the Milli Majlis, also made a speech.

He said that there are extensive relations between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Northern Cyprus.
