Canada adds Russian media personalities, companies in latest round of sanctions
The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday in a statement that it is imposing further sanctions related to Russia's "illegal invasion and attempted annexation of Ukrainian territory," Paralel.Az reports citing Teletrader.
The ministry noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin's war on Kiev is based on "lies and deception." The latest batch of sanctions was implemented against the media group MIA Rossiya Segodnya, United World International and Foundation for the Fight Against Repression, which is closely linked to the founder and owner of Wagner PMC, and, finally, a TV host, "who has visited Russian troops in occupied Ukraine and performed in a pro-war and pro-regime concert."
According to the ministry, these measures show the continuing support for Ukraine and will "fight back against Russia's disinformation."
