Bird flu has been detected on a farm in Chiba Prefecture, northeast of the Japanese capital Tokyo. The state governor said about 1,000 chickens have been killed since the disease was discovered.
According to the public broadcaster NHK, tests carried out after the death of a duck at a poultry farm in the Sosa district of Tiba found high levels of bird flu in many ducks.
