Status requirement from Ararat Mirzoyan

Ali Orudzhev: “Only Moscow wants the conflict to remain in the region, therefore A. Mirzoyan made this statement at a meeting with Lavrov”

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that no peace agreement can be discussed until the status of Karabakh is resolved. I wonder if Armenia or Azerbaijan needs a peace treaty more?
Of course, at present all the doors of Azerbaijan to the international world are open, both on land and on water. It borders by land with Iran, Russia and Turkey, and by water - with Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran. At the same time, Azerbaijan plays the role of a land, water and air transport hub connecting Asia and Europe. Armenia has only land borders with Iran, Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Turkey closed their borders with Armenia for obvious reasons. Georgia has the opportunity to link Armenia only with Russia, because Turkey has already closed its borders with Yerevan. Meanwhile, due to the tense relations between Georgia and Russia, official Tbilisi strictly controls transportation from Yerevan to Russia and vice versa. This does not allow for the establishment of relations between Yerevan and Moscow at the level desired by both sides.
There are favorable conditions for the establishment of relations at the highest level only between Armenia and Iran, but this is not without problems. Firstly, the border between the two countries is so uneven that it is very difficult to transport goods by heavy trucks. Therefore, when transporting goods between the two countries, serious road accidents often occur. In addition, 21 km of the highway connecting Iran and Armenia passes into the territory of Azerbaijan, which from time to time is a source of problems. The road closure last week caused traffic jams on Iranian roads.
In such conditions, it is obvious that Armenia needs to establish peace in the region, open all communications. However, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan puts forward a condition for the conclusion of a peace agreement.
The only advantage of Azerbaijan in this regard is the establishment of a short road and rail link with Nakhchivan. Although there is no railway there, there is a road and air connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan via Iran.
Comparing all these arguments, it becomes clear that Ararat Mirzoyan's demand for status in Karabakh in exchange for a peace agreement is nothing more than political nonsense.
Commenting on this issue, political scientist Ali Orudzhev said that today the peace agreement is important for both countries and other countries of the region (except Russia). Meanwhile, Lavrov made a number of encouraging statements from the Armenians.
Instead of dictating terms to Azerbaijan as a victorious country, Armenia dares to dictate terms with the support of Russia. Today Armenia needs a peace agreement more than anyone else. Because without a peace agreement, relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey cannot be normalized. In the absence of normalization of relations in these two areas, the prospects for Armenia's development are in doubt.
On the other hand, delaying this situation can, for any reason, renew the conflict. This will hit Armenia even harder. Therefore, the Armenian society should demand that the government get out of the hands of Russia and pursue an independent policy, lift the blockade of the country, and so on. There is a public reaction in this direction, but it is very weak. "
