Ban on Azerbaijani products lifted in Russia

According to Russian media reports, since August 10, 2021, the Rosselkhoznadzor has allowed the import of apples from eight Azerbaijani enterprises.
According to the report, this decision was made on the basis of analysis of information on the results of phytosanitary monitoring carried out by the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan at apple enterprises, as well as under the guarantee of the competent authority.
According to the report, the import of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan to Russia has been banned from December 10, 2020. The ban was explained by the ongoing supply of Azerbaijani products with pests. South American tomato moth and oriental moth were reported to be found in these products. A week after that date, bans on a number of businesses were gradually lifted. The decision to allow supplies from many fruit and vegetable producers was made in March this year. It was also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to increase the import of agricultural products from the CIS countries.
