Russia expands military cooperation with Armenia

 

Russia declared its readiness to help Armenia in the modernization of its armed forces. As reported by Armenpress citing TASS, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said this during a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan: “We attach great importance to the development of our military cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within the CSTO. At the same time, we are ready to further support the implementation of reform programs for the Armed Forces of Armenia.
According to the report, Shoigu also said that the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia is well equipped and safe: “Armenia is Russia's main ally in ensuring peace in the Caucasus. We are very interested in maintaining peace in the region. " According to media reports, Sergei Shoigu also congratulated Arshak Karapetyan on his appointment as defense minister. According to him, this appointment took place at a time when the country's defense sector is facing difficulties in carrying out reforms.
