China blames US

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Cao Lician answered questions about the Covid-19 epidemic at a press conference, Parael.az reports. According to Turkish media, he criticized the United States. Lician called on the United States to take a transparent and responsible approach to the epidemic, to invite WHO experts to the Fort Detrick laboratory, the center of the US biological weapons program from 1943 to 1969, and to allow the source of the investigation to be investigated. Noting that the United States is the country most infected with Covid-19 disease and a large number of people in the first place, Cao said: "If the laboratory conducts research, the WHO should go to Fort Detrick."
In addition, the Chinese side has stated that it will not accept the WHO's second phase plan on the origin of Covid-19. Zing Yishin, deputy minister of China's National Health Commission, said he was "surprised" that the second phase of the investigation into the origin of Covid-19 also included an investigation into the possibility that the virus had leaked from a Chinese man.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called on China to increase transparency in the early stages of the epidemic and provide more access to its laboratories to help uncover the origins of the virus. It was noted that the first stage of the investigation into the origin of the epidemic was completed in February. China, which has previously rejected calls for an investigation into the virus, has allowed the WHO delegation to conduct an investigation in Wuhan under increasing international pressure. According to the report, the WHO sent a team of international scientists to the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the first incidents occurred. During the monitoring process, some members of the delegation announced that Chinese authorities had provided their summaries and data analysis of the first events at the beginning of the epidemic, but declined to share other information.
In the study, which began on January 29, the delegation conducted research at the Uhan Institute of Virology, which is the subject of allegations that the virus was released as a result of an accident. The institute, set up to create an archive with the genetic information of bat coronaviruses after the 2002-2003 Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic, said that Covid-19 was artificially produced in the laboratory and accidentally released.
Chinese officials have denied the allegations and made unsubstantiated counter-allegations that the Covid-19 originated in another country and came into the country with frozen seafood.
