US President Donald Trump expressed the hope that Turkmenistan will begin to use opportunities to export gas to the West after the recent determination of the legal status of the Caspian Sea.This is stated in a congratulatory telegram on the occasion of the Novruz holiday addressed to the President of the Republic, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Russian-language governmental newspaper 'Neutral Turkmenistan' reports.
Trump notes that 'on these solemn days, many people in the United States of America and around the world celebrate the holiday of renewal and revival.'
'I hope that Turkmenistan will be able to take advantage of new opportunities to export gas to the West in connection with the recent determination of the legal status of the Caspian Sea,' Trump said.
Note that the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline between the Turkmen and Azerbaijani coasts of the Caspian Sea is necessary to connect Turkmenistan to the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP). TANAP envisages the supply of gas from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to the Greek border, where its continuation will be the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) to southern Europe. Turkmenistan expects to supply the EU with the help of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline 30 billion cubic metres of 'blue fuel' per year for 30 years.
