NATO calls on Baku and Yerevan to intensify their efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, said Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Rose Gottemoeller, Azeri Daily correspondent reports.
'We support the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group and urge the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia to intensify their efforts with a view to reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict,' Gottemoeller said.
According to her, Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of NATO.
'We implement joint projects that meet the interests of Azerbaijan. I would like to note, in particular, our joint work aimed at developing institutions in the defence sphere of Azerbaijan. NATO is ready to support Baku in further development as a key regional actor,' she said.
The deputy secretary general of NATO highly appreciated the support of Baku for the Alliance mission in Afghanistan. 'We are also grateful to Baku for providing transit opportunities within the framework of this mission. Azerbaijan very effectively participates in NATO activities in the fight against terrorism,' Gottemoeller said.
