The number of the resident population of Armenia as of April 1, 2018 was 2 million 969.9 thousand people. Compared with the same period in 2017, it decreased by 11.6 thousand people.
According to the UN, the population of Armenia in the middle of the last century was 1.35 million people, by 1990 it had reached 3.5 million people, and then began to decline gradually.
From the countries of the region, the United Nations predicts a decline in the population of Georgia from 3.9 million in 2015 to 3.39 million. In Turkey, the population will grow from 78.2 to 95.6 million, and in Iran from 79.3 million to 93.5 million people.
From the EAEU countries, the United Nations predicts a decline in the population of Russia from 143.8 million to 132.7 million people, and in Belarus from 9.4 million to 8.5 million, and growth in Kazakhstan from 17.7 million to 22.9 million people, and in Kyrgyzstan from 5.8 million to 8.1 million people.
